When attempting to do some things in CRM you receive the error "A Microsoft Dynamics CRM window was unable to open, and may have been blocked by a pop-up blocker.  Please add this Microsoft Dynamics CRM server to the list of the sites your pop-up blocker allows to open new windows:your server name".


Depending on what browser you are using, CRM may be blocked by the pop-up blocker.


Internet Explorer & Edge:

Add your CRM's URL (i.e. for Online) to the Trusted Sites & Pop-up Blocker Exceptions.  To access Internet Options for Edge, simply type Internet Options in your start menu search bar.

  1. Click Settings (Gear icon) then Internet Options

  2. On the Security tab, select Trusted sites and then click Sites

  3. Type in the name of your CRM Website and click on Add and Close

  4. On the Privacy tab under the Pop-up Blocker section, if Turn on Pop-up Blocker is selected, click on Settings and add your CRM Website

  5. You can also deselect Turn on Pop-up Blocker to turn off the pop-up blocker as well

  6. Close and re-open IE and attempt previous task

If the problem still persists, check and make sure you do not have the google toolbar installed, or any other pop-up blocking toolbars.  You can check this under Settings -> Manage Add-ons -> Toolbars and Extensions.  If you do, disable them and test again.

Google Chrome:

Add your CRM's URL to the pop-up blocker exceptions.

  1. Click on the Menu button (three horizontal bars) and click on Settings

  2. Scroll down to the bottom and click Show advanced settings...

  3. Under Privacy, click on Content settings...

  4. In the new box, under the Pop-ups section, either select Allow all sites to show pop-ups or go to Manage exceptions... and add your CRM Website

  5. Click Done to save

If the problem persists, go back to Settings and, on the left, click on Extensions.  Check to see if you have any extensions that have their own built-in pop-up blockers.  If you do, either disable them or add your CRM Website as an exception.

Mozilla Firefox:

Add your CRM's URL to the pop-up blocker exceptions.

  1. Click on the Menu button (three horizontal bars) and select Options

  2. Under the Content tab, either deselect Block pop-up windows or click on Exceptions

  3. If you clicked Exceptions, type in the URL to your CRM site and click Allow

  4. Click Save Changes to apply
